"These cities have reaffirmed they're going to respect the dignity of all their residents," said Matt Adams, legal director at the Seattle-based Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. "What they're saying is, 'We're not going to use our resources to separate families, to deport children, to tear communities apart.'"
This is one promise - aside from the deportations of course - that I really hope Trump will keep. Cities that fail to comply with federal immigration laws should be defunded. No state, county, or city jurisdiction has the power or the right to ignore federal law as long as it is not a state's right's issue - and immigration is NOT a state's right's issue.
