Awareness is important. And who can’t help but appreciate the San Bernardino massacre.
On Monday, August 1, the California chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA) will join Assembly member Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) in the presentation of House Resolution 59, which recognizes the month of August 2016 as “Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month.”
The resolution is a collection of propaganda and lies…
WHEREAS, The history of Islam in this country dates back to before its founding, originating with African slaves who brought their Muslim beliefs with them to the Americas and who later contributed in numerous ways to the founding of the nation, and there are today millions of Muslim Americans, both immigrant and native-born, of diverse backgrounds and beliefs; and
Not to mention that…
WHEREAS, The United States benefits greatly from the expertise, patriotism, and humanitarianism of Muslim Americans,
Yes. 9/11 was a huge benefit
WHEREAS, Similarly, there are currently more than 240 mosques in California, more than any other state in the nation
The more the merrier...
WHEREAS, Although the majority of Muslim Americans within California and throughout the nation strive to promote peace and understanding between all faiths, identities, and nationalities while upholding those values and principles that define the American people, they have nonetheless been forced to endure harassment, assault, and discrimination since the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001,
Muslims. The real victims of 9/11.
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, That the Assembly joins communities throughout the State of California in recognizing the month of August 2016 as Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month, respectfully acknowledges the rich history and guiding virtues of Muslim Americans,
The dead in San Bernardino respectfully dissent.
I guess Jews aren't wrong about EVERYTHING. After all, I live in San Bernardino and I dissent too. I'm sure the families of the victims and the survivors of the January terrorist attack here are also not very happy.
There are probably a few people amongst the families of victims and the survivors who believe in turning the other cheek and forgive. I've always found that the only thing you get from turning the other cheek is the other cheek slapped as well.
This proposal, if passed is probably going to backfire on them. They are only doing it to prove that California isn't racist against Muslims. First of all, hating Muslims isn't racism as Muslim is not a race - it's a religion. Anyone of any race can convert if they have a mind to. Secondly, all this is going to do is draw attention to the Muslim community, which in this political climate is the last thing they should do.
This stunt is going to increase bitterness towards Muslims and bring UNwanted attention. Under the circumstances, if I were Muslim, I would prefer to maintain a low profile. That seems a more sensible thing than going around wearing a badge that reads "Muslim and Proud Of It." Nowadays that's like one of us walking around a Jewish neighbourhood wearing a Swastika. It may be our right, but I don't think it's a very smart - or safe - idea.
